Here are some pictures that tell a bit about the personal side of my life.
The big day was August 28, 2004.  We had a downpour that morning and feared that we would be crowded inside the house for the nuptials.  But the sky cleared and the sun came out and it was a wonderfully fresh day.

Here son Carlton escorts Mom down the steps for the garden wedding.  It was a small celebration with John's Mom, siblings, kids and grandkids, as well as a dear neighbor friend and Pastor Mike and Lisa (former students) and Ted, friend and musician.

48241Since the summer of 2005, we've been remodeling this old house.  It's a work in progress.  We hope to finish the siding and paint before the winter snows. The higher section to the right was a large garage when we purchased the property.  We tore down the garage and built up, with a nice loft master bedroom.
River_sunriseThe river is what drew us to this location.  The sunrise from our bedroom loft windows is absolutely awesome. This is snapshot was taken August 17, 6:30 AM.
River_viewHere is a typical shot of the river.  There are sometimes fishing boats and pontoons and skulls, but most often it is just the waterfowl and us.
The river can also get mean!  We're in a flood plane--a factor that was evident by the low price of the house when we bought it.  In May of 2004, there was a "fifty-year flood."  Here's one of the pictures that can be seen on the Plainfield Charter Township website. Fortunately for us, our house has not flooded in its shelf life of 75 years.  The 2004 flood came up to our mailbox and flooded the garage floor, but the house is most of 2 feet higher.  But, the 100 year flood, we've been warned, is on the way!  If you see us on the roof, you'll know thebig one is going through Comstock Park. Abrigador_floodjpg
